FAQ for iPhones

1 General information about Travelpinion

You can find more information about Travelpinion here: https://www.travelpinion.eu/?ID=3&select_language=en

2 Does the app always have to be open?

No, the app can be closed again after installation. It also works in the background.

3 What is measured?

Your location is registered at regular intervals and the app recognizes when you are near a beacon. Beacons are small Bluetooth transmitters that are installed in airports, at train stations, in supermarkets, on posters, etc. . This allows us to invite you to surveys depending on your location.

4 What are beacons?

Beacons are small sensors that continuously emit a Bluetooth signal. The "Tripvista" app recognizes the signal from these beacons and registers when they enter the beacon area and when they leave this area again.

5 Are there any costs for me?

A very small data package is occasionally transmitted to the servers. If you have a subscription that includes mobile Internet, you will not incur any costs. If you are abroad and have data roaming switched on, costs may be incurred. We therefore recommend that you switch off data roaming when abroad.

6 How much battery does the app need?

The Tripvista app has been designed to use very little battery power. On average, it requires approx. 2-3% of the battery power. This value can vary depending on the device type, operating system and age of the smartphone.

7 How long will the research project take?

The research project runs for an indefinite period. It is possible to end your participation at any time.

8 Does the use of the location always have to be permitted for the app?

Yes, it is important for the research project that the use of the location is always permitted. After a few days, a message will appear on the device asking whether the use of the location in the background should (continue to) be permitted. To take part in the research project, please select "Always allow". Alternatively, access to the location data can be set to "Always" via the settings. Anleitung

From iOS 13 onwards, you will receive this message occasionally and with a map section. The map section shows you the locations registered by the app. You can find more information on the use of your data in points 1-8 of this FAQ, the conditions of participation and the privacy policy. If you have any further questions, please do not hesitate to contact us.

9 Why do I get a message about location usage since iOS 13?

In order to create more transparency, information about the locations used is regularly provided from iOS 13 onwards. To participate in the research project, it is important that you "Always allow" the use of the location. Alternatively, access to the location data can be set to "Always" via the settings.
