2 Does the app always have to be open?

No, the app can be closed again after installation. It also works in the background.

3 What is measured?

Your location is registered at regular intervals and the app recognizes when you are near a beacon. Beacons are small Bluetooth transmitters that are installed in airports, at train stations, in supermarkets, on posters, etc. . This allows us to invite you to surveys depending on your location.

4 What are beacons?

Beacons are small sensors that continuously emit a Bluetooth signal. The "Tripvista" app recognizes the signal from these beacons and registers when they enter the beacon area and when they leave this area again.

5 Are there any costs for me?

A very small data package is occasionally transmitted to the servers. If you have a subscription that includes mobile Internet, you will not incur any costs. If you are abroad and have data roaming switched on, costs may be incurred. We therefore recommend that you switch off data roaming when abroad.

6 How much battery does the app need?

The Tripvista app has been designed to use very little battery power. On average, it requires approx. 2-3% of the battery power. This value can vary depending on the device type, operating system and age of the smartphone.

7 How do I switch off the "Thank you for your participation" message on the lock screen?

Since Android version 8, a message must be displayed on the lock screen if a process is running in the background. If the message "Thank you for your participation" appears on your lock screen, you can press the message. You can then set the "Service" switch to "Off" and the message will disappear.

8 How long does the "Tripvista" research project take?

The research project runs for an indefinite period. It is possible to end your participation at any time.

9 How can I end my participation?

Please let us know by e-mail that you wish to cancel your participation.

10 Why do I occasionally receive the message "No data for a few days"?

If you frequently receive the message that we have not received any data for several days, this is probably due to a battery optimisation process on your device. Several manufacturers have built in processes that close apps after a certain time. This can usually be switched off via the battery menu in the settings for the Tripvista app.
